  • General terms and conditions: definitions

Article 1.1 The terms "the museum" and "Museum Spakenburg" refer to the organization that manages and operates the museum complex, including, but not limited to, the management, curator, attendants, and other museum officials authorized to act on behalf of this organization. Article 1.2 The "museum complex" refers to all spaces (built and unbuilt) that fall under the legal or administrative authority of the management of Museum Spakenburg, including, but not limited to, exhibition spaces, the museum café, museum shop, terrace, alley, other outdoor areas, and the depot. Article 1.3 The term "visitor" refers to any person who, in any way, directly or indirectly, enters into an agreement with Museum Spakenburg for the purpose of entering the museum complex and/or visiting an exhibition or attending an activity organized by Museum Spakenburg for regular visitors during regular opening hours. Article 1.4 These general Terms and Conditions for Visitors apply to every agreement between Museum Spakenburg and a visitor. These terms and conditions do not apply to special activities outside regular opening hours and/or aimed at visitors other than regular visitors, such as rentals, catering, and the like.

  • Ticket sales, offers and prices

Article 2.1 All price quotes, notifications, or other information provided by Museum Spakenburg are not without obligation. Museum Spakenburg accepts liability for any errors made by the museum itself in price quotes, notifications, or other information provided to the visitor, unless there is an obvious, manifest error. This liability applies only to the museum's own information material present at the time of the claim, or recently distributed by or on behalf of Museum Spakenburg. Museum Spakenburg is not liable for errors attributable to intent, fault, or neglect of third parties. Article 2.2 The visitor is at all times obligated, upon request, to show the admission ticket and any card or voucher entitling the visitor to a discount on the admission price to identifiable officials, including, but not limited to, attendants. Article 2.3 The potential visitor is not entitled to a refund of the admission price or any other compensation in the event of loss or theft of the admission ticket before entering the museum complex. If a potential visitor does not use their pre-purchased admission ticket, this is at their own risk and expense; this also applies if the ticket is only valid for a specific time and/or date. Once purchased, an admission ticket cannot be exchanged, nor will the admission price be refunded. The paid admission price may, however, be refunded if circumstances beyond the purchaser's control make the museum visit impossible, but this is at the discretion of the management. Article 2.4: Potential visitors may be denied access to the museum complex if it appears that the admission ticket, discount card, or voucher was not obtained from Museum Spakenburg or an agency authorized by Museum Spakenburg. Article 2.5: Museum Spakenburg will refund the actual admission price paid by the visitor and travel expenses incurred only if the visitor must leave the museum complex early due to an unannounced emergency response exercise (Article 23 of the Working Conditions Act), as well as in the event of an actual emergency resulting in the complete or partial evacuation of the museum complex.

Article 3.1 During their stay in the museum complex, visitors must behave in accordance with public order, morality, and the rules of decency applicable to the nature of the activity being attended. Visitors are also obligated to immediately follow the directions and instructions given by identifiable Museum Spakenburg officials, including but not limited to attendants. If, in the reasonable opinion of an authorized Museum Spakenburg official, who must be identifiable as such, the visitor acts in any way contrary to these standards, directions, or instructions, the visitor may be denied further access to the museum complex, without the visitor being entitled to any reimbursement of the cost of the admission ticket or any other costs incurred. Article 3.2 Parents or guardians of children are at all times responsible for and accountable for the behavior of the children they accompany. Parents or guardians of children must strictly ensure that exhibited objects are not touched by the children they accompany. Small children must be held by the hand or transported in a stroller; teachers and group leaders must also ensure that the group members they accompany do not touch the exhibited objects. Article 3.4 In exceptional cases where the general safety of persons or the collection reasonably requires it, a managerial official of Museum Spakenburg, who must be identifiable as such, may request to inspect the (hand) luggage carried by the visitor. If deemed necessary, specially trained staff may also request that the visitor cooperate with a security search upon entering or leaving the museum complex. The potential visitor will be warned of this measure before entering the museum complex.
