Contribute to our collection?

The collection of Museum Spakenburg has been built up since 1960 and consists of almost eight thousand objects.

As a public institution, we ensure that objects remain preserved and visible for future generations.

Thanks to donations, the museum can tell stories with objects large, small, precious, or seemingly insignificant: stories about traditional costumes, fishing, farm life, but also about faith, schooling, and home life. Do you have an object or photo that you'd like to know if it fits our collection policy? Then read our acceptance policy and procedure below.

Object Acceptance Policy: If you would like to donate, bequeath, or loan something, we would be happy to discuss this with you. Our collection policy focuses on objects originating from Bunschoten-Spakenburg or connected to it. The best way to assess the object is to provide us with information about it. Therefore, we would appreciate receiving a clear photo of what you intend to offer, after which we will contact you.

If you have any questions about the above information or about donating items, please send us a message.

Financial donations: Donors enable us to expand our activities or make special purchases. Both sponsors and individuals make so much possible!

Sponsoring

As a museum, we must ensure we generate sufficient income to maintain our operations. We also want to host changing exhibitions to ensure we remain attractive to repeat visitors. Museum Spakenburg receives a subsidy from the municipality of Bunschoten, but to carry out all its activities, we need additional income.

We are therefore keen to connect with local businesses. By sponsoring our museum, your company demonstrates its social and cultural commitment to Bunschoten-Spakenburg and its heritage. Customized sponsorship is possible, both on a regular basis and as a one-time donation, for example, by linking it to specific activities. As an individual, you can also leave a legacy to cement your special connection with the museum in your will by naming the museum as your heir or leaving a bequest in the form of a specific amount or objects. We would be happy to discuss your wishes and the possibilities with you.

ANBI

The Spakenburg Museum Foundation is designated as a Cultural ANBI (Public Benefit Organization). This means that, as an individual, you have various options for deducting donations to the foundation from your income tax, up to 125% of the amount. For recurring donations of at least five years, the tax authorities offer additional benefits. It's best to discuss the exact implications for your situation with your tax advisor.
