Lesson 3 - Visit to the Spakenburg Museum
Lesson content:
- The students visit the Spakenburg Museum and participate in an activity circuit of chores and games from the time of Aaltje and Bort.
Learning objectives:
- The students learn how Aaltje and Bort lived in their hometown 100 years ago.

- 6 additional supervisors
- The letter for the supervisors
Time:
- 90 minutes
Preparation:
- Arrange 6 additional companions for the museum visit and send the letter to all of them.
- Divide the class into 6 groups.
The lesson in Museum Spakenburg
Duration of museum visit: 90 minutes
Welcome speech and introduction: 20 minutes
The children will be welcomed by a museum staff member. They will briefly discuss the preparatory lessons and the drawing of Aaltje and Bort they brought along. The museum staff member will explain the activity circuit.
Activity Circuit: 6 x 10 minutes (60 minutes) The circuit consists of six activities from Aaltje and Bort's daily lives, such as grinding coffee and lathering up soap. Each activity has a designated instructor. The students are divided into six groups to complete all the activities.
Closing: 10 minutes. The visit concludes with a group discussion. Using several objects from the circuit, the participants discuss the activities. The museum staff member finds a silver guilder among the items from the circuit. This raises new questions, which the children explore at school. The group takes the silver guilder back to school.
